My husband is not a pet person. In fact, over the years, I’ve been secretly waiting for THE ULTIMATIUM: “Either the dog (insert cat) goes, or I do”. Luckily for me, I’ve not been forced to make that choice. (Who knows how it would have come out if I had!) However, it was my husband’s dislike of pets which actually introduced me to David Wroblewski’s The Story of Edgar Sawtelle.

Is a German Shepherd right for you? How will you know unless you read the owner’s manual? Too many pets are brought back to animal shelters or worse, because of inexperience owners. Not just these type of dogs, but any pet. You need to know as much about that breed before you take them home. A former co-worker of mine decided to get a dog for their oldest son.

The author has identified several steps you will want to complete before you buy your first pet rabbit.

Confessions of a Dog Catcher by Llisa Duffy-Korpics, is one of those hidden gems that deserves a wider audience. Even nine five-star reviews probably won’t be enough to save this book, which means it will probably be as lost and forgotten as some of the stray animals Lisa rounds up.
