Did you know that bulldogs were initially bred and developed in England for the purpose of rounding bulls in a game called bull baiting? This is probably where the breed got its name. But when the game was banned because of issues on animal cruelty, these dogs were taken out of the arena and were brought home as household pets.

To some, bulldogs do not seem to be an ideal pet because of their violent background and seemingly intimidating appearance. But dog lovers say otherwise, they consider bulldogs, a great family pet because of certain characteristics like:
Their friendliness
Unlike other breeds, Bulldogs are the kind to love and long for company.
They can be friendly with other animals and humans as well. This means that you can have kids and other pets with them. They also do not have a hard time identifying themselves to belong to a family. They can be so attached to their pack that they sometimes refuse to wander away if they are not accompanied by anybody.
Their love for attention
Yes, they loved being noticed. Owners consider Bulldogs, a great family pet because despite their “grumpy” appearance they can have a lot of heart. They like to be cuddled and played with all the time.
It’s just that sometimes, they can be so willful that people think they are a bit hard headed.
Those are some characteristics of Bulldogs that make them easier to love. Be aware though that bulldogs,, pet, are generally hard to command. So you have to be a little patient in training and housebreaking them.
