There’s a war on everything these days (drugs, terrorism, etc etc)! Well, I’m jumping on the bandwagon and declaring a war on cleaning up after my parrot! So for some guidance, I dug out an ancient book and blew the dust off of it. The Art of War is a Chinese military treatise that was written during the 6th century BC by Sun Tzu (pronounced Sun Sue).

Earlier I discussed why it’s not usually helpful to work with a parrot when he’s is in a state of anxiety or fear because he’s likely to associate you with those feelings and take longer to trust you. While few people think that intentionally causing fear is a good thing to do, there are some common training techniques that can make a parrot feel very anxious, or worse.

Humming birds are wonderful birds that are smart, playful, and easy to take care. Many new bird owners are surprised by the intelligence that many birds show. They are also very playful. Make sure you do research on all of the different types of birds. Some types of humming birds are more expensive and require more care than do others. Fortunately, most humming birds require only a little care.

The African Grey parrot is one of the friendliest and intelligent of the parrot species. Though it doesn’t have the brilliant colors of some of its relatives, it makes up for it in its friendly disposition and acute ability to mimic not only sound but speech. The African Grey can even wisely put together whole sentences.

1. Birds need to eat a nutrionally sound diet in order to live a long life. Improper feeding can lead to malnutrition and disease resulting in a shorter lifespan. Start off by feeding your bird right from the beginning. 2. Parrots and birds of the parrot family can eat a variety of different kinds of foods. Seeds should not be a parrot’s only food. This is a mistake many new bird owners make.
