The simple reason hermit crabs are called “land hermit crabs” is that unlike most other crustaceans, these little guys, bluntly put, live on the land. After being born in the ocean, they travel to the shore to occupy their first home, which is typically that of a sea snail shell previously discarded by its previous owner.

Freshwater aquarium crabs, aside from their role as additional underwater pets and serving as decorative beings inside your tank for you and your guests to admire, remove leftover fish food and excess algae, thus making them very useful.
