Ferrets are surely lovable and cute pets. They have average life of 8 years but may live up to 11 or 12 year. The male ferrets are known as jills and the female ferrets are known as hobs. The babies are known as kits. In North America, the castrated females are many times called sprites and the neutered males are known by the name of gibs.

Ear mites are a nuisance; tiny insects which reside in an animal’s ear canal, irritating the area and causing infections. The most commonly affected pets are cats, dogs, rabbits and ferrets. I compose this article with a somber heart. I had to say farewell to a beloved pet who encountered a violent death. A few years back, I personally experienced the anguish and heartache of losing a pet from lack of implementing safety issues. “I saw her run up the yard….after the rabbit….into the street…following her natural instinct….I heard a loud crash….I screamed and ran to her side..
