The simple reason hermit crabs are called “land hermit crabs” is that unlike most other crustaceans, these little guys, bluntly put, live on the land. After being born in the ocean, they travel to the shore to occupy their first home, which is typically that of a sea snail shell previously discarded by its previous owner.

When you think hermit crab, your mind likely converts back to elementary school, as these are one of the creatures that many classrooms have. The types of crabs are colorful in nature and spirit and a delight to have as a pet.
