Although Chinchillas need a large cage and much larger than that for a hamster or guinea pig, they also like to explore to a degree that even the largest cage will not provide. Because of their strong back legs, chinchillas love to run and jump and the best way to let them exercise is to give them the run of your house, or at least a room in it.

Large Metal Chinchilla Cages are superior to plastic ones for several reasons: You Pet likes to Chew Plastic can be gnawed away at. This is undesirable for two main reasons. Aesthetically, it will spoil the cage. More seriously for your pet, it can be a health hazard. Your pet may swallow a chunk of plastic.
