Many people who live a suburban life love their pets, and yet, they want to get out of the growing city, and move to a more rural paradise; one with mountains, lakes, forests, and open space. Who can blame them? They want to live in a scenic paradise, unfortunately, there is only one problem, they have domesticated pets; little dogs and cats.

The Yorkshire terrier was bred in the 1800′s from Scotch terriers hitching a ride with emigrating workers in the area of Yorkshire, England. The workers’ original intention was to breed a dog that could chase and catch rats in clothing mills, undoubtedly there to steal the delicious puddings. Since it’s basically a genetically engineered anti-rat doggie commando, the Yorkshire terrier has boundless attitude for a small dog.

Pomeranian dogs are what you are looking for if in case you want a small lap dog as a pet. Generally, this breed of dog have a bright personality and easy to get along with. However, they can be temperamental, commanding, and outgoing. That is why it is discouraged to have them with very young children in a house. They can snap when they are teased.

Small dog breeds are great pets, but since their personalities are all different, it’s a good idea to look at their individual characteristics to see if they fit with your lifestyle. Pomeranians: Pomeranians developed from a much larger dog breed and seem to have retained the mellow character. They are good with children if they have been raised with them from puppyhood.
