An egg is a miracle of nature. Can you imagine small enclosed container containing a life form and sustaining it for days on end with all the vital life processes going on inside it silently? It is simply amazing to say the least but it is a feat that is achieved by your parrot and is controlled by many factors like food, male partner and climatic conditions.
