Clean cage. Your Chinchilla cage must be cleaned often and thoroughly. Chinchillas are prone to infections and disease if the cage is not cleaned and disinfected. We recommend changing the food and water daily with a quick change of some of the bedding as Chinchillas tend to urinate in the same spot. You should also remove its droppings too. Heat. Chinchillas cannot handle high temperatures.

Chinchillas are very exotic and unique animals, and if you’re thinking about a pet chinchilla, there are at least 3 things you’re going to need to know. Chinchillas are picky eaters. And when I say picky, I mean that their food choices are limited. So limited in fact, that if you feed it the wrong thing, you might just kill your cute little chinchilla.

If you think that teaching your pet chinchilla to do tricks is going to be easy, then think again. Although there are some very basic chinchilla tricks that you can teach this very intelligent animal, they won’t be in the same league as those that a dog would be able to learn.
