There is NO Quality Control Department. That would eat into the profits.

There is no comestible amount in the food, no medications, no inoculations, and no veterinary visits.Adult dogs absorb their absolute life, afterwards anytime alive admiring beastly blow or companionship. Merely a commodity, there is no faculty advance affections or one red cent more, into them than is actually all-important for their existence. From they day they are born, to the day they die, puppy comminute ancestry banal are kept in cages or crates, alfresco no amount what the weather; or ample like cordwood in unheated and un-air conditioned basements and garages.

A lot of accept never acquainted terra firma. Others, alone if they were taken out of their crate, to do the deed. No toys, no beds, no beastly interaction, no veterinary affliction and poor nutrition. Who cares…there are affluence added area, pet, they came from!Puppy comminute operators usually don’t accept a clue what the mixes are in the puppies they sell. Ancestry is done so helter-skelter, they don’t remember. There are no records. Everything is done in cash. They bazaar their articles with beautiful little names like: Amplitude Puppies, Doxies, Pugles, LhasaPoos, Jack-Rats, Chorkies, PomaPoos, PugaPoos, Poochons, Peek-a-Poms, or Peek-A-Poos, It absolutely gets absorbing if they alpha ancestry PugaPoos with LhasaPoos, or Chorkies with Poochons!

The pet boutique buyer or flea bazaar puppy comminute agriculturalist promised you a one-year agreement on the puppy’s health. Yeah, right! Wake up and that appears to smell the abridgement of disinfectant!

There are NO guarantees. A few canicule afterwards you get your puppy home, and your veterinarian tells you it will amount X amount of dollars to yield affliction of a bloom issue, just try and yield that puppy aback area you bought it!

Ever wonder why so many pet store puppies are sick or become sick within weeks of bringing them home? The truth about pet store puppies is disturbing. If you’re an animal lover, the following paragraphs will be difficult to read, but simply doing just that could potentially spare a life.

Ever admiration why so abounding pet abundance puppies are ailing or become ailing aural weeks of bringing them home? The accuracy about pet abundance puppies is disturbing. If you’re an beastly lover, the afterward paragraphs will be difficult to read, but artlessly accomplishing just that could potentially additional a life. It’s harder to brainstorm that in this country area dogs are advised admired associates of the family, accept their actual own telelvision and radio shows and humans dress them in artist clothes and amusement them like children, that a grave abode alleged a puppy comminute could still exist.

A puppy comminute or puppy acreage is a ancestry operation with the sole purpose of authoritative money. The animals are not buried for abeyant abiogenetic bloom defects or even accustomed basal medical care. There is absolutely no absorption paid to bearing dogs that comform to brand accepted for admeasurement or temperament. A puppy comminute can be a assurance forth the alley commercial puppies, an ad in your bounded bi-weekly or they can even accept a nice website, but they are about consistently abaft those beautiful puppies you’ve apparent in pet boutique windows.

You’d never apperceive by searching at those puppies the afflictive altitude from which they came. You’ll see how aflame they get if you access their cage. You ability even blooper your duke through the confined admitting the acquaint admonishing not to and absorb the anticipation of bringing home the one who seemed a lot of eager, but it’s what you will not see that would leave you gasping. For that puppy’s mother, activity (if you can alarm it that) is a atrocious struggle. Her physique is acclimated up from years of overbreeding and because of this, she will apparently never see her sixth birthday.

She has never been apparent adulation or benevolence and apparently has no abstraction what it would feel like to run in the grass. Her activity is not like that of a accustomed dog at all. She alone exists for the purpose of ancestry and has lived her absolute activity in the aforementioned baby cage area she eats and sleeps and area she’s apparently accustomed bearing to several litters. But that doesn’t amount to the buyer of the puppy mill, pet, . He alone sees dollar signs if he looks into her dark, sad eyes.

In addition six months he’ll brand her already afresh for the account of bushing his wallet and the puppies will be alien about the country to assorted pet food and puppy brokers and the aberrant aeon will continue. When she’s no best able to breed, she’ll assuredly be put her out of her misery- if she’s advantageous enough. The sad accuracy is that she will apparently still be account a few dollars to a testing facility: A class that uses dogs for the account of testing new products. There is no achievement of anytime endlessly this aberrant aeon of corruption as continued as we accumulate affairs puppies from pet stores.

Don’t be bamboozled by AKC papers. Although the AKC doesn’t disregard puppy mills, about anyone can annals a new clutter accouterment both parents are registered purebreds. Please advice put an end to this torture. Join the action to annihilate puppy mills by abnegation to acquirement a puppy from anyone added than a acclaimed breeder. There are aswell millions of animals about the apple in charge of adoption. You ability be afraid to apperceive that one in four dogs rescued by the ASPCA, Humane Society and agnate shelters is a purebred.

Please accredit this commodity to a adolescent beastly lover or anyone who ability anytime be in the bazaar for a blood puppy.

When consumers are looking for a puppy, it’s typically because they want to have sole influence to shape the puppy, or because they don’t want a dog who comes to them with proverbial “baggage”. Unfortunately, many consumers purchase their puppies from pet stores and on-line sources and have no idea that the puppy they are getting may already be damaged.

When consumers are searching for a puppy, it’s about because they wish to accept sole access to appearance the puppy, or because they don’t wish a dog who comes to them with accepted “baggage”. Unfortunately, abounding consumers acquirement their puppies from pet food and on-line sources and accept no abstraction that the puppy they are accepting may already be damaged.According to the Accommodating Society of the United States (1) 99% of all puppies awash in pet food arise from puppy mills. Puppy mills are the scourges of the pet industry and their actuality has been continued hidden from the public.

While pet accomplishment organizations accept been aggressive these operations for years, Oprah Winfrey was the being abundantly amenable for bringing puppy mills to the accessible eye.Puppy mills are accessories area dogs are branch farmed; one comminute can aftermath bags of puppies annually. Puppy comminute puppies commonly do not accept any healthcare, never leave their cages, and accept no beastly contact. Why should I care? It’s not humane
Breeding dogs are bedevilled to activity in a cage after beastly contact, exercise or bloom care.

They do not leave their cages…even to go to the bathroom. They are bred continuously, and if they can no best carbon they are put down. The puppies are advantageous abundant to escape as they are the commodities, but activity as they apperceive it isn’t pleasant, nor is it accessory for acceptable bloom and temperament. The alone affair puppy comminute puppies apperceive about activity is independent aural the borders of their cage. The overcrowded, bedraggled altitude and abridgement of medical affliction added assists in the advance of ache and poor temperaments.

If they are amid 5-8 weeks old, they are awash to pet shops and puppy brokers who in turn, advertise them on the Internet and in newspapers.Emotionally and physically damaged puppies
Between 3-5 weeks of age, (the primary socialization aeon for puppies), affecting tendencies arise in pups. This is if they apprentice about chaw inhibition and aggression, affecting temperaments are set, abhorrence of strangers emerges, and they alpha to acknowledge to sites and sounds. While socialization can be able through 12 weeks of age, abounding behaviors and tendencies are already set by anniversary 5.

If puppies are not appropriately socialized they become developed dogs who are emotionally frigid and fearful, or the opposite, grossly over acknowledging with top anxiety. In both cases, assailment is acceptable to follow. This apparently isn’t what you had in apperception for the puppy of your dreams.Puppy comminute puppies tend to be sick, with illnesses that may present aural canicule and others which may not present for a year or more. As continued as a ancestry dog can breed, they are bred, admitting illness.

Ailing ancestry parents aftermath ailing puppies and the begrimed and brimming altitude these dogs reside in creates a accomplished host of added illnesses that are transferred from dog to dog.Consumers accept to be accomplished about what they are affairs from pet shops and on-line sources. Abounding online sources affirmation to be breeders if they are absolutely puppy mills in disguise. To acquisition out how to differentiate amid a puppy comminute and a able breeder, bang here.Puppy mills are a multi-million dollar industry because they adumbrate their business in places area consumers cannot see them and they casualty on consumer’s benightedness of their ancestry tactics.

Based aloft the Accommodating Society’s 99% figure, we appeal you to never acquirement a pet from a pet abundance or from an online source. It’s up to you, the consumer, to bare the accuracy about the puppy you ability be buying. Choose wisely, the superior of your activity and the puppy’s activity depends on it.What can I do?Professionals in the pet industry accept fabricated “putting puppy mills out of business” amount one on their assignment list. The a lot of able band-aid admitting is to stop affairs their products.

Healthy and appropriately socialized, pet, puppies can be begin through a able dog agriculturalist and through your bounded beastly apartment and brand accomplishment groups. If you’d like added advice on puppy mills and what you can do to stop them, there are abundant campaigns and associations you could investigate including the following:•	Best Friends, Pets Are Not Articles Campaign
•	American Accommodating Association, Help us Shut Down Puppy mills
•	The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), Fight Beastly Cruelty/puppy mills

Puppy mills are commercial dog-breeding operations – some on a massive scale, others are Mom-Pop backyard, basement or garage set-ups. It doesn’t matter which. Profit is given precedence over quality. The physical, mental and social well being of the puppies and breeding stock dogs are not important. All that matters is the bottom line.Responsible breeders place priority on producing the healthiest, happiest, and most well adjusted puppies achievable; sparing no expense. Just the opposite is true for breeding at puppy mills.

There is NO consideration of genetic quality, mental/physical health, and/or socialization. Puppy mills are shocking. The fact there is not more outcry to shut them down, and punish the owners, is reprehensible. There is little to no concern for the health and well being of breeding stock dogs or their puppies. The, pet, goal is to get as many puppies out of a breeding pair as cheaply as possible. Quality food is an unnecessary expense. Medical attention is an unnecessary expense. Sanitation is an unnecessary expense.

Their indifference results in one generation after another of dogs with socialization and behavior problems, various chronic health issues, and gruesome genetic defects. The breeding combinations are despicable. Mothers are bred with sons. Fathers are bred with daughters. Brothers bred with sisters. Aunts bred with nephews. Uncles bred with nieces. Cousins bred with cousins. In-breeding or line breeding it doesn’t matter to a selfish puppy mill owner. The sole purpose of a puppy mill is to get rid of as many puppies for the highest price possible.

Sadly, countless puppies are culled (killed, usually inhumanely) for such defects as misshaped ears, tails, or legs. They are also destroyed for obvious breed disqualifications such as wrong coat color or pattern or wrong eye color. Many are born deaf or blind or so full of worms, nothing can be done to save them. Others are sold knowingly, with heartworm, or other parasitic diseases because they are kept in filthy outside cages or kennels. Water buckets are never cleaned. Putrid water can sit for days.

Mosquitoes burst out and thrive around puppy mill, not to mention flies, maggots, lice, mites and ticks!Typically puppy mill puppies are sold through what is called a Class B broker and/or middleman to flea markets, on-line sites and pet shops. The puppy’s new owner often receives promises of receiving pedigree “registration” papers. The majority never receive them…others are falsified. There is absolutely no rational justification for puppy mills. The bulk of them are overcrowded, disease ridden, unsanitary and ruthless.

Most often, the breeding stock once “used up”, if not slaughtered inhumanely or sold to research labs, will live the rest their short lives caged in unsafe, and unsanitary conditions. They will receive the least amount of low quality food necessary to sustain them.Even on the outside chance the breeding stock and their puppies end up in the hands of a Class B broker, they will receive little or no veterinary care, often leading to serious medical problems. Dogs and puppies that have never been socialized with people, especially children commonly have severe behavioral problems.

Regrettably, what happens is, an ill-fated puppy is purchased at a flea market or pet shop; usually by inexperienced dog owning family, who think they are doing the right thing. They are also patting themselves on the back, and blustering about how they saved a few dollars, and didn’t get ripped off by a breeder. The new owner soon finds there are overwhelming on going physical, mental, and behavioral problems and/or health concerns. The expenses climb, and soon go through the roof. Now the puppy that was such a fantastic deal, is no longer wanted or affordable.

It is destroyed, abandoned or surrendered to a shelter or rescue.Meanwhile, for those piteous dogs still back at the puppy mill, when their productivity wanes, they and many of their reject puppies are abandoned, killed or sold to those Class B brokers. The brokers in turn, sell them to research labs. That’s when life really gets rough! Then, the cycle starts all over again!Bottom line: Puppy mills thrive on nothing more than the insatiable greed of the owner and operators. If you are looking for a happy, healthy, well-adjusted puppy, do your homework.

You’ve probably heard about puppy mills. But did you know that if you purchase a dog from a pet store and many of the breeders online or in the newspaper, you could be helping keep the puppy mill industry afloat?

Most people don’t realize where those dogs who suffer so much end up. They often don’t even know how much suffering the dogs have to endure. Below is some information you should read before you decide how to find your new canine companion.

The Abuses of Puppy Mills

If you’re not familiar with the term “puppy mill”, you may want to learn about them before you start looking around for your new puppy or dog.

Basically, puppy mills operate like factories to produce new offspring that can be sold. Female dogs are bred from their first heat cycle and again each time until they are no long able to reproduce. Then they are “disposed of.” The puppies are kept with their mothers in tiny cages, usually stacked on top of one another in cramped and dirty environments. Because the cages are made from wire, the excrement and urine from the above dogs can fall down onto the lower dogs. The wire cages also cause foot injuries and are very uncomfortable.

Most of the dogs are underfed. Most have worms because of their close quarters and their unhygienic environment. Fleas and mites are huge problems because most of these puppy mills are located in the country and none of them receive any type of preventative care. Some even contract heart worms and other serious illnesses. They also tend to have emotional problems because they lack any human contact during their formative years, and because their mothers are usually too weak to give them much compassion.

In some of the worst of these places, dead dogs are left in the cages to decompose with the living ones.

Where the Puppies Go

As you can imagine, most “hell operators”, as I like to call them, do not sell their “stock” from their factory. Instead, they have other ways of connecting with potential customers. Pet shops are one of the largest buyers. Most of the dogs you see being sold in pet stores for hundreds of dollars were bought for a fraction of that from puppy mills. However, since the puppy mills sell hundreds of dogs every couple of months, they are profiting from these sales in major ways.

But pet stores are only one method. Many of the breeders who advertise online and in the newspaper are also puppy mills themselves or are selling supplies of dogs they have gotten from puppy mills.

What you get is a puppy facing an array of immediate medical problems and with genetic diseases that will surface years later.

Signs of a Puppy Mill

Regardless of what pet stores may say, their supply of dogs comes from puppy mills. However, with breeders, you may have a harder time recognizing the possibilities.

To protect yourself, always ask to visit the puppies on-site so you can view the condition of the mother and possibly the father. For obvious reasons, if you are buying directly from a puppy mill, they will have some excuse as to why you cannot do this.

If you do arrive on-site but are not allowed to see the mother of the puppies, this is also a sign the puppies may be from a puppy mill and that the mother may be another location altogether.Never buy a puppy without seeing where they and their parents are raised and housed with your own eyes.

Do your research; get references about breeders in your area.

While your heart may go out to these suffering puppies, when you buy them from these sources you’re only contributing to the problem and continuing the puppy mill business. That’s why I always urge, pet, and encourage people to adopt either from a humane society, a rescue, or a shelter, and help put those torture chambers out of business for good.

When you go to buy a cabbage, you go to a greengrocer. When you want shoes, well, you go to a shoe store. For books, a bookstore. And so on. The amazing thing is, you should be very wary of walking into a pet store and picking out a puppy like this. Animal welfare charities on both sides of the Atlantic have issued online advice against buying puppies by picking a nice looking one from a pet store because of the chance it has come from a ‘puppy mill.’

What is a ‘puppy mill’?

These have sprung up in the last half century or so, because of the amount of money they can make for those running them.

A ‘puppy mill’ is a breeding facility which literally turns out puppies like a factory, without consideration for the puppies or parent dog’s welfare. The ‘mother’ dogs are mated to produce litter after litter, without adequate recovery time between them. This is very bad for her health and the puppies’ health. The dogs aren’t given any attention, so they are sold unsocialised from just 8 weeks old to pet stores, or through adverts. Indiscriminate breeding practices leads to more genetic defects – puppy mill puppies are known to have higher rates and more incidence of sickness.

This could mean a very sick puppy, who isn’t used to being handled by humans, or one who could need ongoing care over some years to come.

In the USA, the well-known animal welfare charity the ASPCA advises people not to buy from a pet store unless you can actually meet the dog’s mother. In the UK, although there are laws which should prevent puppy farming, the UK Kennel Club also issued cautions. They advised never to buy a dog from a pet shop as they are often supplied by ‘dealers’, who are agents for puppy mills.

They also advise never to buy a dog from “the back of a van at a motorway service station or from an airport car park, such as Heathrow, as this is how many dealers operate”. Advertisers selling multiple breeds may also be ‘dealers’.

Rehoming a dog

In the current economic climate, the time has never been better to adopt a dog from a rescue centre. For the adopter and the dog, this certain benefits. Rescue dogs usually come fully vaccinated, neutered, micro chipped and with full veterinary checks.

This can avoid costly vet fees, and some centres offer assistance to those adopting dogs with known health problems.

If you have a favourite breed, you can still adopt. There are some less, pet, well known charities that specialise in by breed alongside the general centres.

Breed enthusiast clubs also some times have details of even pedigree dogs that need a good home due to unforeseen circumstances.

People are sometimes wary that a ‘rescue dog’ will always come with behavioural problems. This simply isn’t always the case and good centres these days offer behavioural profiles of their animals and work with potential adoptees to find a dog that will perfectly suit their lifestyle.

It’s worth bearing in mind that in reality. no pet shop, reputable breeder or rescue centre can ever give a 100% guarantee of any dog’s temperament or behaviour.

Norma De Bloom is fanatical about pets which puts her on a par with most other British people. What makes her stand out is that her horror at the way in which some of the less scrupulous pet food manufacturers and pet product manufacturers exploit pet owners has led her to build a series of sites including this one, at http://www.petsupplyadvice.com with notes about about avoiding puppy mills.

Reason #1 – PUPPY MILLS!

The majority of puppies found in pet shops, and flea markets are products of back yard puppy mills. You don’t care. Puppies have to come from somewhere. You are right! However, they don’t have to come from puppy mills.

The greater part of puppy mills are unsanitary and cruel. Puppies and dogs are kept in such appalling conditions it will make your skin crawl. Considered nothing more than breeding stock, they are suffering victims of indiscriminate breeding. Fathers and daughters, mothers and sons, sisters and brothers! The perfect recipe for expensive genetic nightmares!

As their reproductive capacity wane, the older dogs are killed, often cruelly, and without a second thought.

They cannot take up precious space. Puppy mills are purely for profit. No thought is given to the general physical and emotional health of any of the products going out the door. There is NO Quality Control Department. That would eat into the profits. There is no nutritional value in the food, no medications, no inoculations, and no veterinary visits.

Adult dogs spend their entire life, without ever knowing loving human touch or companionship. Merely a commodity, there is no sense investing emotions or one red cent more, into them than is absolutely necessary for their existence.

From they day they are born, to the day they die, puppy mill breeding stock are kept in cages or crates, outside no matter what the weather; or stacked like cordwood in unheated and un-air conditioned basements and garages. Most have never felt terra firma. Others, only when they were taken out of their crate, to do the deed. No toys, no beds, no human interaction, no veterinary care and poor nutrition. Who cares…there are plenty more where they came from!

Puppy mill operators usually don’t have a clue what the mixes are in the puppies they sell.

Breeding is done so helter-skelter, they don’t remember. There are no records. Everything is done in cash. They market their products with cute little names like: Space Puppies, Doxies, Pugles, LhasaPoos, Jack-Rats, Chorkies, PomaPoos, PugaPoos, Poochons, Peek-a-Poms, or Peek-A-Poos, It really, pet, gets interesting when they start breeding PugaPoos with LhasaPoos, or Chorkies with Poochons! You get the picture! Notice, most of them are small dogs…less space, food and care needed!

OK, so what do you have to look forward to when purchasing a puppy mill puppy, besides usually a neurotic, fearfully shy or fearfully aggressive animal? Let’s make of list of documented health conditions common to pet shop puppy mill purchases.

Often, the condition is so serious, the animal does not survive.

1.	Urinary Tract Infections (UTI)
2.	Mange
3.	Parvovirus
4.	Worms…the whole spectrum
5.	Eye and ear infections
6.	Untreated wounds
7.	Heartworm
8.	Kennel cough
9.	Pneumonia
10.	Respiratory infections
11.	Liver disease
12.	Kidney disease
13.	Hereditary neurological, including epileptic seizures
14.	Deafness – Common to inbreeding
15.	Blindness – Breed stock parents are often born with no eyes – usually due to inbreeding
16.	Congenital hip problems
17.

Congenital heart problems
18.	Colitis
19.	Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
20.	Distemper
21.	Prolapsed uterus
22.	Malnourished
23.	Gardia – gastrointestinal infection
24.	Allergies
25.	Hernias
26.	Coprophagia – eating dog poop!
27. Pyometria

Those are just a few of the more serious known conditions. There are also all kinds of other surprises with temperament, and health issues.

Oh, but you’re not worried. The pet shop owner or flea market puppy mill breeder promised you a one-year guarantee on the puppy’s health.

Yeah, right! Wake up and smell the lack of disinfectant! There are NO guarantees. A few days after you get your puppy home, and your veterinarian tells you it will cost X number of dollars to take care of a health issue, just try and take that puppy back where you bought it! Health guarantees are nothing more than marketing ploys. They won’t take the puppy back, so don’t expect a refund! You are stuck! NOTE: Never believe them, when they tell you they have all their inoculations!

BOTTOM LINE: So, if this information fails to convince you NOT to purchase your next puppy from a pet shop, or flea market, you cannot say you were not warned.

If you like to live on the edge, rescue an animal from a shelter. There is no guarantee what you will find, but the odds are better than pet stores and flea markets. Shelter statistics are showing, approximately 25% of puppies and dogs in shelters are pedigrees!

If you are not that daring, find a reputable breeder. Ask for references. Ask the references if you can see their animal. Most owners who do it the right way, are more than willing to help you have the same wonderful experience, with a physically and emotionally healthy puppy.

Think before you act. Your decision can help break the back of the puppy mill industry!
